Top Finishes for UNOH Students at Business Professionals of America State Competition
The University of Northwestern Ohio chapter of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) claimed 7 first place awards during the Ohio BPA state competition held February 24th and 25th at Zane State College, in Zanesville, Ohio. Overall UNOH students placed in 76% of the events entered and qualified 14 students for the National BPA Competition!
UNOH students placed in 29 out of 38 competitive events capturing 7 first place finishes, 6 second place awards, 6 third place awards, 4 fourth place awards, and 5 fifth place awards in individual competition! Fourteen students in the UNOH chapter of BPA qualified for the national competition, to be held April 25-28 in Chicago, IL, during the BPA National Conference. The UNOH BPA students are: Nichole Barker, Donald D’Addario, Melissa Finch, David Hites, Matthew Hunter, Casey Kreher, Miranda Mayer, Saige Meyer, Jennifer Nafziger, Anthony Norton, Devan Reiff, Rita Schulze, Tabitha Shonk, and Cassio Sirimarco.
In addition to the individual awards, the Financial Analyst Team, comprised of Matthew Hunter, Miranda Mayer, Jennifer Nafziger, and Tabitha Shonk, placed first in their competition. Also, UNOH Student Matthew Hunter was named State Treasurer for the 2012-2013 term.
The Business Professionals of America organization, formed in l966, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Currently, there are over 600 BPA chapters nationwide at the College/University level. Eleven chapters exist in the State of Ohio.
