Pataskala Student Named 110% Award Winner at UNOH
Derrick Necci, an Automotive, High Performance, and Diesel Technology Major was chosen as the March 2012 Snap-On 110% Award Winner at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
Derrick Necci was nominated by Ryan Snyder, an instructor in the College of Applied Technologies at UNOH. Derrick is originally from Pataskala, Ohio and attended Licking Heights High School and Eastland Career Center. Derrick was nominated for his unwavering interest in learning as much as possible. Instructors say Derrick would even help tutor students in his classes without being asked, spending shop time quizzing fellow students about different tasks. Snyder said, “I decided to challenge Derrick and gave him customer work. Derrick diagnosed and repaired 5 customer vehicles in one session in addition to his class work. Derrick was so trustworthy that I trusted him with my own personal vehicle.” Snyder maintains that Derrick is the type of student that other students look up to. Derrick began classes at UNOH in August 2011 and will complete his coursework in all three majors by May 2015. Derrick is currently employed at Max & Erma’s
The 110% Award is sponsored by Snap-On Tools at the University of Northwestern Ohio. Each session, nominations are turned into the Deans by the University’s College of Applied Technologies’ instructors. The winner(s) each session is then chosen by the Division Heads with determining factors being grade point average, outstanding performance, and attendance. Dale Stahl, Snap-On representative for UNOH, presents each winner of the 110% Award with a Snap-On Jacket and Tool Set valued at more than $250.
