UNOH Optimist Club to Host 2nd Annual Bike Safety Day
The University of Northwestern Ohio Optimist Club is hosting its second annual Safety Bike-a-thon event on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 10:00am until 2:00pm sponsored by the UNOH Optimist Club. Hosted in the parking lot of the 500 Building on the UNOH campus, the Safety Bike-a-thon event is designed for youth in the Lima community and their families to get out and enjoy the weather and make sure their bikes are in safe working order. (The 500 building on the UNOH campus is west of Pizza Hut as you enter campus from Cable Road.)
At the event there will be bike inspections and a safety course. There will also be supplies on hand for children to decorate their bicycles. The UNOH Optimist Club is giving the first 50 kids in attendance free safety helmets to use while riding their bikes all summer long. Food vendors will be present at the event and kids will receive a free hot dog and drink and someone will be in attendance to fix bikes that are in need of a little TLC.
