UNOH Students Place in Top Three at National BPA Contest
Ten University of Northwestern Ohio students and their advisors traveled to Chicago, IL for this year’s Business Professionals of America’s National Contest held April 25-28, 2012. More than 6,000 students from across the nation competed at this year’s BPA National Conference. Three UNOH students placed within the top 3 in the nation in individual events. All ten members won or placed in State level events which qualified them to participate at the National Leadership Conference in Chicago. The National competition results include:
First Place:
Tabitha Shonk – Lakeview, OH: Fundamental Accounting
Second Place:
Melissa Finch – Toledo, OH: Advanced Office Systems and Procedures
Third Place:
Nichole Barker – Lima, OH: Administrative Support Concepts
The Financial Analyst Team, made up of Matt Hunter – Lima OH, Tabitha Shonk, Rita Schulze – New Bremen, OH, and Devan Reiff – Elida, OH, placed fourth in their team competition.
The Business Professionals of America organization, formed in 1966, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. Currently, there are over 600 BPA chapters nationwide at the College/University level. Ten chapters exist in the State of Ohio.
