UNOH Confers 1,411 Degrees at Graduation Ceremonies on June 10, 2012
The University of Northwestern Ohio’s 92nd annual commencement exercises will be held this year on Sunday, June 10,at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center. A total of 1,196 students from the College of Applied Technologies, College of Business, College of Health Professions, College of Occupational Professions, and Graduate College will be receiving their degrees and diplomas. There are 216 students who have earned two or more credentials.
Mr. Adam Mestemacher was nominated to be the graduation speaker for the College of Applied Technologies. He was nominated by faculty in the College of Applied Technologies due to his academic success and his extensive involvement in campus activities. Mestemacher is originally from Edwardsville, IL and will receive his Associate’s Degree in Automotive and High Performance Technology. Mestemacher says, “I knew I didn’t want to have a desk job right out of college, and I wanted to be doing something I truly loved to do every day. I joined the Race Club and was able to intern with RCR Racing on Ty Dillon’s ARCA car. After we won at Talladega last year, I was instantly hooked on racing and knew that I wanted to be involved in the sport.” Mestemacher participated in the Race Club, Over the Wall Club, and President’s Advisory Council while enrolled at UNOH. He now has a full time job as a mechanic for Richard Childress Racing. Mestemacher performs duties as a tire specialist when the team travels to races around the country.

Mr. Darko Bucan was nominated to be the graduation speaker representing the Colleges of Business, Health Professions, and Occupational Professions. He was nominated by the faculty because of his positive attitude and academic performance. Bucan is originally from Belgrade, Serbia and will receive his Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration. Bucan says, “Being a foreign student at UNOH, the most memorable experience I had was getting to know the American people, their culture, values, and customs, and being able to interact with them and with the other international students at UNOH.” Bucan attended UNOH on a basketball scholarship and filled the Guard position on the team.
The University Grand Marshal this year is Steve Klausing. Klausing is the Automotive Division Head, an automotive instructor, and is an advisor of the Race Club at UNOH. Mark Fueller is the Marshal for the College of Applied Technologies and Nichole Barker is the Marshal for the Colleges of Business, Health Professions, Occupational Professions and Graduate College.
The 2012 University of Northwestern Ohio graduates represent 28 states and 2 countries (United States of America and Serbia).
