Professors Mariann Byrne, Carmel Morse, AJ Templeton, and Philip McMurray will be working with students from the Multicultural Perspectives, International Business, The History of England and Scotland and the Travel & Tourism courses. Classes will present the Bahamas, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Peru, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Zimbabwe.

A portion of the International Business class will be prepared to discuss the process of exporting from Columbia to the United States, with another group focusing on exporting from Brazil to South Korea.

This year, UNOH has been home to 55 students from over 20 different countries.  Their home countries are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Tahiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.  Some of the international students are participating in International Day as part of the International Student Association and talking to fellow students and faculty about their home countries.

Each country’s display will provide different perspectives of culture, depending on the focus of the course, which may include historical items, arts & crafts, music, currency, trade information, laws that affect trade & business, and unique cuisine.

The Business Professionals of America organization, formed in 1966, seeks to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.  Currently, there are over 600 BPA chapters nationwide at the College/University level.  Ten chapters exist in the State of Ohio.

The Career Fair, open to all UNOH students and alumni, will be held May 30^th, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm in the Event Center on UNOH’s campus.  Companies attending the career fair are looking to hire business, accounting, marketing, sport marketing, medical, information technology, legal assisting, and office management students.

Throughout the Career Fair UNOH College of Business, Health Professions, and Occupational Professions students will have the opportunity to meet prospective employers, talk to them one on one, and hand out resumes.  Some students will be able to set up appointments to be formally interviewed by the attending companies.

The University of Northwestern Ohio offers lifetime job assistance to all graduates and the Career Fair is part of that lifetime assistance.

Companies attending the career fair include: Aflac, Auto-Owners Insurance, BioLife, Crown Equipment Corporation, Family Video, Health Pro Medical Billing, Lima Memorial Health Systems, Menards (Corporate and Local), MetoKote Corporation, Quatman Law, Rodan + Fields Dermatologists, Skylight Financial Group, Travel Logistics, The Union Bank and more.

At the event there will be bike inspections and a safety course.  There will also be supplies on hand for children to decorate their bicycles.   All children in attendance will receive a free hot dog and drink.   This event is free and open to the public, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Students in the University of Northwestern Ohio’s College of Applied Technologies began the competition by taking a written test.  Fourteen finalists in the automotive program and fourteen finalists in the diesel program were chosen for the elimination round.

The top three finalists in the diesel and automotive competitions will receive plaques, University tuition scholarships, Snap-On tool kits, and be recognized at the Career Magnet employer’s dinner.  Total scholarships awarded come to over $11,000!

The Career Fair, open to all UNOH students and alumni, will be held May 15^th  from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and May 16^th, from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Event Center on UNOH’s campus.  There will be a lunch break from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on May 16^th.  More than 45 well-known companies are expected to attend the career fair and are looking to hire automotive, diesel, high performance, HVAC/R, alternative fuels, and agricultural technology students.

Twelve UNOH students, who all placed in the top 3 in their respective areas of expertise at the state competition held in March, will be judged on various business skills.  The national competition includes both individual and team events, and all events are graded on a time test basis.  Event subjects include management, marketing, human resources, accounting, finance, office management, and many computer competency events.
